We
realize that many educators have concerns about our web site. On this
page we hope to answer some of your questions and make our intentions
clear.
To
begin, we did not create ProfessorPerformance.com to paint a bullseye on
all professors' foreheads. Each of us have had some wonderful instructors-
who are in no small part responsible for getting us where we are today.
We even created a section to showcase such professors- The
A+ Club
This
being said, there are "bad" professors at every institution
in the United
States. This page was not designed to seek them out and get rid of them,
but make students aware of what they should expect when they step in
such a professor's classroom.
We
do not advocate administrative action against professors based on what
is posted on this site. Firing, suspending or discipling a professor
based on a handful of evaluations is rash and rather thoughtless. We
do not endorse, nor support, such actions.
We
also do not support the actions of professors who use this web site
to seek out critical students and challenge their views. Students have
the ability to post anonymously, but also can use their real name. Those
who do should not be subject to harassment.
We
realize that there will be instances of students who post false, misleading,
libelous, or defamatory evaluations about their professors. If you find
such an instance, then e-mail
us. While we will make every attempt to investigate such postings
and remove them if necessary, we will not be held responsible for any
consequence resulting from an evaluation posted to our site. Please
see our Legal Page for more information.
A
final word- if you are a professor, please keep all the above factors
in mind and try to remain calm before e-mailing us. We will not reply
to frantic accusations, demands or anger fits.
